From March, 2019-January, 2020 I allowed google to track my movements. Companies use location data to understand who a person is, based on where they have been and where they are going, in order to influence what that they are going to do next. Accumulation is a transformation of this data into visual expression.
The hand drawn images and repetitive nature of this piece parallels my contained, routinized and regimented lifestyle. It is steady, but the routine is imperfect and at times, fails. The use of plastic film allows for visual layering of information. Plastic, like our data, once created, lasts forever. The translucency of the film represents how this data, ever-present in the background and unseen, is tremendously impactful nonetheless.
